CARF Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

CARF Audit Items
Emergency warning devices, means of egress, and emergency plans
Operation of machinery and machine guarding
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Clothing
Handling and storage of materials and processes, including powered industrial trucks
Operations involving hazardous materials and processes, including safe and effective management of bio-hazardous materials
The control of electrical systems and hazardous energy (lockout/ tagout)
Health and sanitation provisions for food preparation, eating areas, and restrooms
The working environment, including ventilation, illumination, noise, and air contamination
 Fire protection in accordance with applicable state and local fire requirements
Special processes such as welding, chemical treatments, spray-painting, and the use of x-ray equipment
Written health and safety policies, plans, and procedures
Documented proof of an active health and safety inspection program, a preventative maintenance program, an emergency response program, and other programs as applicable
